There is no reason to be bored as active social groups include Duplicate and Progrssive Bridge Clubs, Culinary Arts Society, The Humane Society, Garden Clubs, The Writer's Group, The American Legion, Needle Pushers, Genealogy Clubs, Computer Clubs, Chess Club and the list goes on and on. We also have a thriving art community with the Lakeside Little Theatere and an annual Film Festival held in November. Many art galleries and local artists are world renown. Art classes are available.

Health Care is an important issue for many, and in the area it is more than adequate. For 210.00 US a year per person we have Social Health Care. There are many clinics here in Ajijic for everyday aches anbd pains and you can pay for routine services which will be anywhere from 15 US to 30 US for a specialist. An echocardiogram will cost about 120 US and the results can be available to you within 2 to 4 hours. Dental work is very inexpensive and many US citizens come down here to take advantage of reasonable dentist fees.

The Lakeside area has a very low crime rate. There are few safer places in the world where one can live.

The US Consulate General and the Canadian Consulate have offices in Guadalajara where passports can be renewed in one day if necessary.

Churches are plentiful and there are many faiths that hold Sunday services.
